Transmission Banging

3076 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  pjsantospolo
I have a 2019 LT3 blazer with the V6 motor and a friend of mine has a 2019 4cylinder and he just told me is transmission started banging from 1st to second mostly and sometimes 2nd to 3rd. It started a couple of weeks ago.
Anyone else seeing this issue?

i got the 2019 rs model. if your switching between normal AWD and Sport, it will give a lurch, maybe a little clunk.
but if it's full on banging under normal driving, book an appointment, that's a gear issue.
I guess it depends on what you mean by "banging". Just a hard shift or and actual banging noise? From what I've read and experienced with past Chevy's I've owned, the transmission actually tries to learn and adjust to your driving style. It can take several thousand miles for things to smooth out. The 2013 4-cyl Equinox I had quite a few hard shifts in lower gears during the first 5000 miles or so. After that, it seemed to happen much less often. The 2017 v6 Equinox I had after that did not have the same issue. Sure there were a few hard shifts here and there when it got caught shifting just as I went from braking to accelerating but it was comparatively rare compared to the 4-cyl I had.

I have a 2019 L 4 Cyl and I find that shifting from 2 to 3 sometimes sounds like it slip. I am experience this in auto or manual. In manual is more noticeable because the rpm increase to 6000/7000. I am not sure what is the ratio on that shift. I need to send unit to warranty.
I found ratio. Not sure if this explain the situation.
Note: mine is 9 speed.
