From everything I have seen, the new Blazer doesn't have a Start Stop disable button. Some GM vehicles do, some don't. There are aftermarket companies that make Start Stop modules that plug in to disable the start stop system. Has anyone had any experience with the module yet?

It does seem odd that some brand new models in the lineup like the Cruze have this ability but others do not. It seems like anything with their 2.5L has had this disable removed. I find it hard to believe that their smaller engine is the one closer to the emission/fuel economy targets. Just a note that I don't think start/stop will be nearly as noticeable or jarring in the Blazer as models past. The tech has advanced a lot and its pretty seamless now.

Unfortunately, the Blazer does not have a disable feature/button. Some people have said, you could put it sport mode and it will disable the start/stop. So far, that is not true. I will continue to try and find a way. No, I haven't tried a module.

A smaller, higher revving engine could easily be the one more prone to hitting economy limits. I just think its silly that Chevy decides to place this function in some of their models and not in others. They must know that people will be looking into workarounds if its something that's not provided from factory. There are no concerns with damaging the powertrain with one of these bypass modules?

The name of the company is Smart Stop Start. I don't know anything about the company and am no way affiliated with them. I just found them on the internet. So far they don't list a module for the Chevy Blazer, but you can view their website at https://www.smartstopstart.com/ I think the price is around $140.00 and it looks like it is a simple plug and play installation into the hood wiring under the hood. It looks like it may be a nice clean installation.

Great feature to have but I have always been skeptical about them and concerned about how it might impact my warranty term.
It's probably a good idea to check with your dealer first to see how good or bad of an idea it is.

People have been using these kinds of bypass systems for years on GM products, and I've never heard of any mechanical/electrical issues as a result. If its plug and play it wouldn't be all that involved to remove prior to warranty work either.

In that case I guess it depends on who does the install because that can also determine the outcome.
I know people that had bad luck with them taking up local ads offering to install them and just going to any shop they can find that will do it.

Sometimes another work around to this feature is to place the car in any drive mode other than D. Typically start stop is just reserved for that default driving mode and selecting Sport usually disengages it. You might also be able to shift to neutral and back to drive when waiting at a light to prevent that throttle response delay.

For vehicles where its programmed into the system I bet some independent shop can get around it with the right software.
From my experience sometimes it takes a few months for them to get on board with the new stuff as aftermarket companies supply them.

This is Steve from SmartStopStart.com

We now believe there is a reasonable probability that one of our existing designs will work in the Blazer, but we have not tested it yet.

If anyone has a ‘19 Blazer NOW and would like to Beta test a free module in exchange for your feedback and a few installation photos please contact me at [email protected] This offer is very limited and will be withdrawn one we have a couple of good volunteers.

Regards,
Steve

GREAT NEWS...
2020 Blazer owners won't have to worry about as they will be getting an auto stop-start disable switch. Read on:

2020 Chevrolet Blazer To Gain Engine Auto Stop-Start Disable Switch
"One of the biggest criticisms of the all-new Chevrolet Blazer is the inability to disable its automatic engine stop-start feature, causing owners to come up with all sorts of makeshift workarounds. In fact, the same issue has plagued the Blazer’s C1 platform mates – the GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5. Luckily, that will soon change, as General Motors will add a way to disable the automatic engine shut-off feature for the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer.

2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS Red - Exterior - Middle East 006

According to exclusive information uncovered by GM Authority, the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer will gain a stop-start system override engine control. Coincidentally, the same holds true for the 2020 GMC Acadia and 2020 Cadillac XT5. That sound you hear is a collective sigh of relief among those who really like the Blazer, but detest being forced into having the fuel-saving feature always enabled on the mid-size crossover.

Other notable changes to the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer include the addition of the turbo-charged 2.0L LSY four-cylinder engine (about which we previously reported), three new exterior colors, and various package-level changes. We will report on these changes in more details in a jiffy."

Just purchased a Blazer. The auto start stop is over ridden by shifting into L. I had an Equinox where this worked as well. Shift into L, toggle shift it up to 9, and its set. No auto stop start.

After shifting into L and toggling to 9, do you leave the car in L or shift back to D to actually drive the car?
