Sorry to say that after 3K miles, I accidentally pulled in too close to a curb and scraped about 1.5” of my front left redline rim (20” gloss black). Doesn’t look too bad. Any recommendations on fixing the scrape? Buff and paint? Will probably look into touching it up with some gloss black.

Oof! I feel like such an idiot! I’ve tried to be so careful!

That sucks but it happens to the best of us. I don’t know where you are but in my area there are guys that do wheel repairs. Cost is typically between $100-$200 per wheel depending on the damage. Many are mobile shops that come to you. The work I’ve seen has been really good.

If you’d rather DYI, there are videos on YouTube with suggestions and methods for fixing curb rash.

Thanks! I’ll probably just do it myself. Can’t justify $100-$200 to have someone fix it. It’s annoying, but minor! $5.99 for some Testors model paint, gloss black. $99 for some sexy curb feelers...

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. (y)

Curb rash prevention is one of the reasons I went with the 18" wheels and tires. More sidewall for wheel protection as well as a noticeably more comfortable and quiet ride.

I literally did the same thing to mine a week or so ago too, i was gutted. I ended up ordering one of these. The results were great, can't even tell when standing a few feet away. I'll try to snap some pics tomorrow in the sun.

For those of you who did the touch up paint route, how did it go? I did the same thing this weekend, was told I could replace the rim, or get it fixed for half the cost (no ty). I have the Raceline 20 inch rims, I own a 2019 RS Black and white.

Ive had to buy a new rim for one of my wheels. Where I live there is a company that repairs rims but because of the red on the black rim they couldn’t fix it. Then last night a apparently caught another curb I’m going to probably have to the maybe fix it myself.
