Today my infotainment system stopped turning off when I turn off the vehicle and exit.
Have tried a few things including:
removed USB drive with music
disconnected cell phone
removed vehicle profile
tried opening & closing all doors several times (see below)*
called onstar for remote diag. (nothing helpful)
disconnected battery for an hour

*As a side note, the dome light does not come on with the driver door during this problem but does come on with the other three doors & hatch. And when the radio does eventually time out (10 minutes I think), the drive door does activate the dome light. So it does not appear to be the physical door sensor.

None of this helped, so off to the dealer I go with my two month old Blazer with 1200 miles. :-(
If anyone has any ideas, feel free to post.

Tried a few more things.
Including using the secondary FOB, after that problem went away. 6 - 8 time start, stop, exit, radio turns off. Went back to primary FOB and it worked fine until this morning. It is garage kept and weather is not too cold (54 F). Will try using secondary FOB tomorrow.

Mine did this early on until the radio asked for an update. It has not done it since
I was excited this morning when the radio said there was an update available, but after the update the problem persists. Next week I have an appointment at the dealership to have it looked at, hopefully they can figure it out without having to tear apart my two month old vehicle.

Not happy :(

Just to keep this post updated with my newest find.

I am not sure it has anything to do with the door switch/sensor, everytime I open the door the illumination on the shift mode knob on the console lights. So the vehicle knows the door is opening and closing. Very strange that the dome lights do not come on though (they do with 3 other doors). I cannot imagine there is more than one driver door switch/sensor.

My 2020 Blazer just started doing the same thing this week. I'm assuming its a software/update issue vs hardware since we both have the same symptoms during the same period of time. I confirm that the radio do shut off just not when you open door like in the past.

Dave
Thanks for the info Dave, I am hoping this thread helps not only us, but others in the future. I will post any further changes with my Blazer, especially after my appointment at the dealer. I would appreciate you posting anything you can as well.

Thank you,

Dan

Hope the update helps.

That is the same time frame as when mine started (4 - 5 days ago).

Her battery should be ok if everything turns off after about 10 minutes, which is when the RAP (retained accessory power) relay shuts the accessories down.

Went by the dealer today to reschedule my appointment and had an interesting conversation with the service advisor. He said they have a brand new Silverado with the infotainment 3 system in it doing the same thing. They re-flashed the computer and that fixed it for almost a week, then the customer said it started doing it again. He and I agreed it is definitely a software issue.

Not sure if mine did an update today or not, but the problem has changed. Now the vehicle thinks the door is open all the time, even driving, dome lights on & door indicator on dash.

At least with the dome light switch turned off, the radio shuts off as soon as I shut off the vehicle.

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Now my Blazer is back to no dome light & radio stays on.
Think I just need to have the dealer reprogram the computer.

At dealer, said they will need a few hours to diagnose.

Will update post when I get the diagnosis.

It's been in the bay for 5 hours, they told me 2 hours ago they would need to go into the door to troubleshoot the problem. Feeling pessimistic at this point. ☹

Ok, at this point I am very unhappy. Just talked to the dealer, they say it's a short in the electrical system. Said the vehicle is too torn apart to be able to pick up tonight.

Great! Two month old vehicle and he said they took the door panels, kick panels, and part of the dash apart.

So much for buying a new car to avoid missing work because my car is in the shop.

At the dealership this morning and they said it is definitely the window motor. Which make some sense since the door sensor is sub tended off the window on the LIN data bus.

4 business days to get part ?

Just FYi, noticed at dealer and since that the problem has gone away. Maybe from being taken apart & reassembled, I don't know.

But now I have a part on order (window motor) and everything is working fine.

Do I let them open the door up and replace the window motor?

So the radio has been working fine since the dealer, open driver door lights on radio off. But there are scratches on the interior pull door handle, I found a screw on my floor mat, and now the side camera does not work.
So happy I could just burst! ?

Update, window motor came in and I dropped the vehicle off to have it put in, and have them fix the camera. They called first thing this morning to say they broke my mirror trying to fix the camera, and will have to order one, it may take until Tuesday. They also admitted that they probably fried the camera while probing wires troubleshooting. Now I wonder what shape the wires they probed are in. Did they damage any like my door handle, camera, & mirror?

They refused me a loaner and said they do not do that, then said it was because I didn't buy from their dealership. I explained that I tried and the sales person dropped the ball & didn't return my calls. At that point I said I would print the emails & text messages between me & the sales person from their dealership; then I would like to sit down with the owner of the dealership & my GM senior adviser (handling my case at GM) and discuss a few things. Then I called the general manager of the dealer I bought the vehicle at to discuss what he could do to help his customer.

After about two hours I got a call from my service adviser saying they had arranged a rental car for me.

I am so unhappy with GM/Chevy at this point, just want a different vehicle.

While I was at the dealership one of the other service writers said they have very few mechanical issues with the newer vehicles, just issues with the electronics.

Also, GM owner center is down for me, anyone else (been 2 days)?

I picked up my Blazer from the dealership yesterday and everything appeared to work, until I drove it. Now the collision deterrent indicator in my mirror doesn't work. So, back in the shop it goes for the third time in the last month. Had it three months and it's been in the shop for 10 days so far, and they have to install a part on order & figure out this new issue with collision avoidance system.

GM advisor wanted to close my case, I said no let's wait until I get it back and check everything. Just because the dealership said it's fixed does not mean it's fixed.

For everyone that has this problem I went into my updates and let it update itself and now things are working properly. So maybe you maybe try the same.
Yes, some have said that doing an update fixes the issue. My dealership replaced my driver window motor and said it was the problem. The explanation was that the door switch communicates with the small board in the window motor and that in turn sends a signal on the CAN bus (link to computer). So mine went bad per the tech.
