Panoramic Sunroof and Sun Shade has a mind of its own

I have 2019 premier AWD with 12k miles, the other day the wife told me that the sunroof and shade would not open or close. Today while she was out the sunroof started to open by itself. She managed to hit the button to close, it took a while but it closed and she herd a clicking noise while it closed. Sun shade had similar noise but wouldn’t close. Have appointment next week and will update when I get an answer. Thankfully it wasn’t raining.

Also pulled the fuse so it wouldn’t happen again.

d took to dealer
times
It has happened to us 3 times. First time it reset itself. Second time took it to dealer. Happened again. I disconnected battery and it worked. What is going on with sunroof
It’s at the dealer now waiting on word. I think the sun shade gear is stripped because wife claims it was making clicking noise when she was attempting to close.

Just wondering if you ever got an answer for this problem? I have a 2020 Blazer experiencing similar issues. The sun shade just started sliding back and forth on it's own and now both the sunroof and shade buttons are unresponsive.
Happened to our 2019 RS twice now. Dealer couldn’t fix it while in warranty, then managed to fix it by changing the motors. 2 weeks later happened again. Shade opens on its own and stays stuck open. They now want $175 to just look at it again!

UPDATE Brought it to the dealer, was told that the weather seal on the roof was leaking. Water got inside the roof and shorted the motors. After ~ $2500 worth of repairs (none of which was covered under warranty), all seems to OK for now knocks on wood.

Having same issues with my 2021 Blazer, dealership says there's no way this could happen on it's own. Sunroof did open on it's own leaving a gapping whole in the roof for rain to enter. It will not close at all now. Was informed that no one has ever had or reported this issue like this therefore it must be my fault and it will not be covered under warranty. Currently at another dealership for second opinion.
I'm new on the forum and just stumbled upon this thread from a couple of years ago. Sorry to hear about your sunroof and sun shade troubles. That sounds like a scary situation! It's good that you have an appointment coming up, and hopefully, they can figure out what's going on. In the meantime, have you considered using custom-made sunshades for your car? They can help to keep your car cool and protect the interior from harmful UV rays, which can help prevent any further issues with your sunroof and sun shade. Best of luck with your appointment, and let us know how it goes!
