Yea I did mine. It had a different looking filter than the pf63e I use on my impala, it didn't have plastic core, felt heavier. But it did say pf63e on the side of filter in red letters. I put upf63r back on per owners manual.

Got free oil changes for life at the dealer when purchased. They said to come in every 5000 miles, so that is what I will do.
That sounds nice. I guess if they do a good job, and use high quality oil, and filter. You would just have to avoid all the up sell tactics.

I went in for my first free oil change on my Impala and they just hand treaded in the drain plug a few threads. Had a huge puddle of oil all over my garage floor wider than the car. I called to complain and service manager said for me to drive it with a loose oil plug, low on oil 45 miles back to the dealership so they could fix it. I told him I would redo the oil change myself before the car goes back on the road. And I will never let them touch my car again.

  • So it's alright to use a pf63 instead of a UPF63r? Our blazers manual only mentions the UPF63r. All the dealers in my area dont use the filter listed in the manual either. I'm unable able to find out the difference, besides the upf63r doesn't burst as easily under high pressure. I dont trust dealers in my area to do an oil change. They only threaded in my drain plug on my impala a couple of turns, leaked huge puddle in my garage. So I'm just following the manual so I can prove I put the filter in gm says to so if I have to have warranty work they cant deny any claim. I can easily see the dealers saying your x problem is not covered because you have not been using the filter that's recommended for your vehicle. They dont tighten oil drain plugs so yea.
use what is listed in your owners manual...this filter has a thicker material canister because you have a high pressure oil pump....no bursting of the filter....bad thing :)

nooooooo...do it at 2500 and make sure you use the recommended GM filter....you have a high pressure oil pump with the V6 and you need the strength of the oil filter can thickness to keep it from bursting....i use Mobil1 5W-30 and the GM UPF63R filter every 5000 miles....no problems...

good info here, I agree with not going to the dealer, best to do stuff yourself or at a local place you trust. If you are going to go and do it at 500 or 600 miles, then you might as well put some solid stuff in there like this:

searchforparts.com/oil-change/chevrolet-trucks-2019-blazer-2.5l-a-lcv

but any synthetic will do, I just like that brand, and over the past decade I have seen very little need to go to the dealer and my vehicles do not have issues. Unless I get a letter in the mail saying I need something replaced, I am avoiding the dealer.
