Normal for a front drivers window?

2924 Views 14 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Mgarvin4
I am being told this is a normal look for a front driver side window... I had like 30 cars and never encountered this ugliness in a window... Looks like I am looking out of an aquarium. Does anyone else have this beautiful look to their Blazer? Only part of the window is showing but it is through the entire window... Passenger side front winodw is not like that...

I believe that is the plastic between layers of glass when window is laminated. This prevents window from shattering into tiny fragments when struck in an accident . Most notable with polarized sunglasses ,
That glass is defective. If no other Blazers exhibit this on Driver's side window, you can make a Case with Chevy Factory Representative. The info is in back of your Owners Manual. They suggest asking Service to fix it first so there's a record trail.
I was told by a chevy service dealer it was normal...They also text me an article about how rear windows are like that, do to lamination...Thats nice but it is not my rear window, so the story doesnt match....Its a joke!!! I have never seen a car with that issue on a driver side window...It is actually worse then in the picture, it is from top to bottom....Believe me I had about 20, change cars every 2-3 yrs....So I know better...It is a lease so when the lease is up...they can have it back, no more for me!!! Can you imagine putting a car with a window like thay in a car show, bet it would win first prize for most unique window! 🤣🤣

I have already gone that route. Opened a Chevy case and after weeks of phone calls with Jose who was my factory rep I was told there wasn’t anything he could do. This is a know problem and there is a letter out to dealerships that there is a problem with cooling the glass too fast causing this issue. His suggestion was to replace the glass at my expense and then if there is a recall later we can explore getting some of my money back. This is totally an unacceptable solution for a factory issue.
I'm sure you are gona think this comment is rude but since you are leasing this Blazer why is your underwear in wad? You haven't spent 30 to 60K to outright purchase your Blazer like me and others have. Of course with a lease you will return yours as to where the rest of us can't just return ours.
After a bit of research on the net and a few phone calls, the window can be replaced for around $300 or so. (I'm sure it'll cost more pending where you live like CA or NY. I'm in TN) That's less than some are making on monthly payments on their Blazers. If you can afford to lease, and it bothers you that much, replace it yourself.

Bruce TDN,
Not sure where you’re getting the information about me leasing our Blazer but instead of me making a smart remark I’ll just clarify it for you. We in fact did purchase, not lease our Blazer. We did spend our hard earned money, not lease so I have a good reason to get “my shorts in a wad”. And thanks for you 2 cents worth but I’m not spending my money on a factory defect since I am not turning it in at the end of a lease.
My apologies Garvin. 😕 Misstook you for the OP. Phone screen is small and scrolling is a blast. Makes all the posts run together. Thought you were the OP griping about a lease vehicle.
Still, if it bothers you that much, get it replaced. If its gona annoy you for the length of time you have the Blazer, is it not worth it to replace it?

My point is, it’s a factory defect! GM knowing this is an issue should suck it up and take care of replacing the window.
Pretty much all windows show it for me with sunglasses.......sometimes without, but not many. Will some window tint make it go away?

Polarized sunglasses will make it more visible but that isn’t the case with our windows. Is is very bad with the naked eye. Window tint will not make it go away but will make it worse.
