My First Chevy

Hello All,

I am new to the Chevrolet family and have never owned a Chevy. Unfortunately, my Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L hemi has come to an end after 13 years. I had paid the Jeep off in 6 month and have not had any car payments for a longtime. Since the transmission had died, I got it fixed to sell/trade-in and had to look for a new vehicle quickly. I originally had plans to look at another Jeep, Explorer Sport, Honda Passport, Honda Ridge line or Toyota Highlander. While I was search online a new vehicle, I happen to stumble across the new Chevy Blazer. I definitely remember the old Blazers, but never like any of them. But, wow when I happen to see the 2019 Blazer, I was instantly drawn to it. I really like the new look. The Blazer became, my first priority vehicle to test drive. I probably should have test drove the other cars as well, but I didn't have a healthy Jeep car to drive. I called a few Chevy dealer to see if they had any new Blazers. Only one dealer within travel distance had two of them. As a result, by the 4pm Saturday Feb 2nd. I was taking home a new Blazer Premier! :grin. I hope to get some tips from some experienced Chevy drivers who already owns or have owned a Chevy. This is my first Chevy ever! And I'm glad there's a Chevy Blazer forum. I will post some pics soon in the other threads.

Tell me about it, coming from the Traverse, which is still a very attractive SUV, the Blazer is the sportier Chevy SUV I always wanted.

Welcome!
Welcome to the forum Blaze, congrats on your new Blazer Premier! A bit of a change from your previous Cherokee, but hopefully it will serve you just as well. I think there will be many like you who in the process of searching for a new crossover/SUV become drawn to the aesthetics of the new Blazer. Curious to hear how you find its performance in comparison to the hemi.
Congrats on your new Chevy and welcome to the community. Out of all the new crossovers for this year, this is definitely the most sports car inspired and I think its played out very well. Say what you will about Chevy rebranding the nameplate, this model is going to be far more successful as a mass volume product. Hope all goes well with the new purchase. Which color did you decide on?

Black exterior and black interior. I wish they made the cross symbol black, but it is the original gold/yellow.

The quick take off from a traffic light isn't as fast as the Jeep was, but it does take off in sport mode well enough to satisfy me. Some people say they haven't noticed a difference between normal and sport mode. I would disagree. There is a noticeable difference and it is faster. I think people are looking for a huge punch at take off. The Blazer does not do that. It's fast and will pass people since it's 305/308 hp. My Jeep was 325 hp.
The sound when flooring it, is superb! The engine sounds quiet, yet it has an aggressive sporty engine sound when mashing.
That even more of a reason for my hope of aftermarketing tuning companies to target the Blazer.
Lots of potential here that's similar to the Edge ST and other Ford performance products in recent years.
