I did mine today. Did my rear emblem too. Took about 30min to do both. Really simple. Much better than the gold emblems.

Did you just pry off the rear or use dental floss?
I used plastic trim pulling tools. Considering the original had been stuck on there for less than a year, it was easy to pry off. I used a microfiber rag against the paint and used one tool to get it started and the other tool to move a bit farther along while GENTLY prying. Remember the metal is thin and you can dent it if you try to use it to pry against. Just take your time and work around it. You can see in the pic what stayed on the Blazer and what came off with the emblem. What was left on the Blazer was rolled by finger into a ball.

Just clean the area up and prep with alcohol before the new one goes on. It'll be filthy...at least mine was before I cleaned up the area. You can see in my first pic above where it was all clean and shiney afterwards...and don't ask why one is square and one is round. It just is. The new one snaps on no issues.

Did your friend order from shopchevyparts.com or somewhere else? They have the front illuminated and rear black badge for $255. I think my total was was less than $290 shipped. I take it your buddy charged you to install as well?
Where did you buy the glow bow ties from? Can you send the link fur the plastic removal kit?
