Heated Steering Wheel used to be automatic....

After picking up my RS around Thanksgiving I decided to leave everything per the factory settings including the AC/Heater settings which were set to "auto" when I drove it home. Up until last week the steering wheel automatically heated up. I've never tried to turn it on or off myself. On cold mornings the heater turned on, along with the steering wheel. Last week, it didn't. So I got out the manual to figure out how to turn it on manually by pushing the button near the cruise control settings on the wheel.

Now I have to manually turn it on, all the time. Not a big deal, I admit. But why would it change like that? Another software issue?

You can turn it on/off in the vehicle settings on the infotainment screen.
It is automatic based on temperature.
I realize that. But it used to be that, when the heat and fans came on, the steering wheel heated up as well. But now, when that happens the wheel does not heat up. What changed?
I am not certain if those two systems are related. It maybe independent modules.
All of a sudden, yesterday the steering wheel heated up without me pressing the switch. Since my last post I have left the heat/AC control set on auto. Guess it will just randomly include a heated steering wheel when it feels so inclined.

It all depends on the temperature, you can have the system on auto and the steering wheel may not heat automatically if the ambient temp is too high. I have seen it come on when its as warm as 45 degrees outside.

I have noticed the same thing , but for sure it temp related ...when we have warm night heater may come on if I have it cranked to 80 but not the steering wheel , 2 days later if temps drop steering wheel is on...i guess on a warm just push the button ..
We have a 2019 blazer RS. The heated steering wheel does not come on anymore. Even if we press the button to manually turn it on or off. It doesnt work. Is it because of the warmer temps or is it broke?

if you press the button and the light doesnt come on it sounds like its broken. You should be able to turn it on manually at any time.
