Surprisingly Chevrolet Sales Thailand has confirmed that it will be introducing a new model to the market next year. They didn't confirm the exactly model, but there is a solid chance that it will be the new Blazer. GM hasn't really been selling many cars in this market for the past few years, and at the moment they only offer 3 models from their lineup. https://paultan.org/2018/12/20/chevrolet-confirms-new-suv-for-thailand-next-year/

New markets present new opportunities to create region specific trims that cater to specific demands. We've seen a growing interest in performance models in these markets, hence Fords decision to bring the Ranger Raptor there.

The Ranger Raptor is going to be a tough sell as its starting price of $74k. And with rumors of Ford considering an Edge RS, that may force GM's hand in developing an SS variant of the Blazer.

Why not just equip it with a some kind of hybrid system for the next gen model? That's the direction that the industry is heading it, and it would surely come with some nice boosts to power output.

The appeal of all these new midsizes joining the segment is quite wide ranging. There are a lot of buyers who have become disinterested in full size pickups with the inflated pricing we've been seeing over the past few years.

I liken it to Wrangler's and vehicles similar to them that are rugged but start out very cheap, and best of all, cheap to own month after month.

Honda Civic for $25k or Wrangler/Tacoma/Colorado for $25k?

Isn't the Malibu the only model in Chevy's lineup that has a proper hybrid system? I don't think there has been any mention of this kind of powerplant for any of their crossovers/pickups as of yet.
