I plan on getting a paint protectant on it. Hopefully, that will help. Any suggestions on the type/product?

It is a good idea to put some paint protection before it last. I got a professional to do it; I prefer ceramic paint protection because it has much longer durability than paint sealant and the outcome is excellent its worth every penny though it is somewhat expensive.
