Engine hesitant

Hello, just purchased a 2019 blazer rs. It's been recently cold in so cal but I don't think that's the reason the engine hesitates when put into drive from park. The acceleration hesitates/shudders/skips and the pedal locks. We have to release the pedal for the car to correct itself. Anyone else have this problem and what was the best solution?
