just a simple question here...is it ok to shift on the fly from standard touring to ice/snow or performance mode or should you at least be stopped at a light?....TIA

it's all computer controlled but the computer tells the tranny what to do...then it becomes mechanical....thanks, wasn't totally confident...i'll try it out today....

I usually do it in park or at a stop light but I have done it while driving. When I do I notice a delay like the computer is waiting for the right time to make the change. I guess it is not something I would do when driving at high speeds though but then it could be perfectly safe to do so.

I remember as a child I would have to hop out of my grandfather's truck to lock the wheels so he could put the pick up in 4WD. Now we just have to turn a dial and the computer has modes for different road conditions.

i looked in the owner's manual and am surprised they don't really talk about it...maybe I missed it but couldn't find any info on it?

i did try switching the drive mode while driving at approximately 25mph....no problem but i don't think i'll be doing that at any higher speed because there was a noticeable change in rpm and gearing at the time...and watch out for the snow mode...does crazy things to your rpm like 4000rpm at 20mph....geesh to bad you have to enter that mode to get from touring to performance....my rule will be to change drive mode while at a stop from now on...

You may feel a jolt or change happen but that is normal as the computer is adjusting the transmission and traction control too.

Yep....I don’t think I’ll be doing it at 70mph 🥴

LOL I don't think I would either but I have done it at 40-45MPH to put the Blazer in AWD Sport mode. I feel it it jerk a little as it kicks in the AWD and changes whatever other changes it makes to the traction control or suspension. I even asked a GM mechanic and he said it is perfectly safe and the car will make the change to AWD when it is safe to do so at any speed.

Haha...I don’t believe any mechanic at any dealership....They want you back for warranty work😂
