I usually do it in park or at a stop light but I have done it while driving. When I do I notice a delay like the computer is waiting for the right time to make the change. I guess it is not something I would do when driving at high speeds though but then it could be perfectly safe to do so.
I remember as a child I would have to hop out of my grandfather's truck to lock the wheels so he could put the pick up in 4WD. Now we just have to turn a dial and the computer has modes for different road conditions.
Yep....I don’t think I’ll be doing it at 70mph 🥴Chevy says it is safe to do at any time

You may feel a jolt or change happen but that is normal as the computer is adjusting the transmission and traction control too.
Haha...I don’t believe any mechanic at any dealership....They want you back for warranty work😂LOL I don't think I would either but I have done it at 40-45MPH to put the Blazer in AWD Sport mode. I feel it it jerk a little as it kicks in the AWD and changes whatever other changes it makes to the traction control or suspension. I even asked a GM mechanic and he said it is perfectly safe and the car will make the change to AWD when it is safe to do so at any speed.
