Well this is something I didn't expect to see Chevy do. Apparently they have filed a patent for a brake rotor with decorative Chevrolet bow ties on them...I don't really know who wants something like this but apparently Chevy does

Here's what Car and Driver had to say about them:

The patent application "relates to a brake rotor having a decorative insert" and mentions how it "is desirable to provide a method to effectively and lastingly mark components without adding prohibitive cost to the manufacturing process or compromising component quality." Sure, but we're not certain who is clamoring for brake rotors that look like these brake rotors.

It's to discourage you from buying aftermarket OEM-spec replacement parts.

Really? because the way they're designed would make me consider aftermarket brakes more.

Dealers will be looking out for these very obvious signs.

That's very true, but I wonder what the value difference would actually be?

It can be significant enough depending on the effect of these easter eggs on used car buyers.

That's true, especially if you're trying to trade it in to a Chevy dealer vs. a used car dealer.
