Chevrolet Blazer vs. Honda Passport

I stumbled across this review of the new Blazer and the reviewer made some interesting comparisons between it and the Honda Passport - https://mont.thesentinel.com/2019/06/20/chevrolets-blazer-returns/

In terms styling the Blazer is strides ahead of the Passport:
Unlike the new Passport, the Blazer is an instant head-turner, at least if you see it from the front end. Its tiny headlights and big grille are designed to evoke the Chevrolet Camaro sports coupe, and its hunkered-down stance with small windows continues the sporty vibe. In contrast, the Passport is basically a big box with rounded-off edges.
The Blazer doesn't have as much space as the Passport:
For better or for worse, the Blazer’s passenger compartment feels cozy compared to the extra-airy Passport. Yet it’s still perfectly comfortable for four adults, and a fifth will fit fine (even if they’d be happier in the center-rear position in the Passport). Unlike its cargo space, the Blazer’s passenger space is class-competitive in the midsize- crossover segment.
I'm sure the Passport is a fine SUV but it's way to bland compared to the Blazer. The space difference would have to be significant for me to consider it over the Chevy.

every review I have seen praises the passport and calls it superior. It is if space is your primary concern. Aside from that, it has some flaws.

I agree, the Passport is solid and spacious as a family vehicle, but I find it's very bland in comparison to the Blazer.

every comparison I have seen only focused on cargo space, etc. as if that is the only reason anyone chooses an SUV model. Passport clearly is better if your primary concern is how much you can stuff into its cargo hold. Not sure its the best if you care about features, styling, ride quality, handling, etc
Reliability might also work to the Passports advantage.
The Blazer is new and we haven't had enough time with it.

So far, it's working out well enough for most owners.

I agree, the emphasis is storage space and reliability as @trailblazer mentioned. Those are definitely not the only factors for buying a SUV but that's obviously the path Honda wants to go with the Passport. As far as the midsize SUV class goes the Passport and the Blazer are sort of on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of what their selling points are. Which makes it interesting for me when they get reviewed together.
If people are going to say reliability is a factor than there is really no point in comparing anything to the Pilot (except maybe a Toyota) because by default most will assume the Honda will trump a chevy (and other brands) in reliability. One thing working in the Pilot's favor is that it's a shortened version of a 3 year old Passport so it should be reliable- very little is new. But I do agree they are so different they aren't logical competitors- the Blazer doesn't pretend to be an off roader- the Passport does. The Blazer isn't trying to look truck-ish- the Passport certainly is trying to. I find it interesting that the Passport has generally gotten a pass on interior materials while the blazer has been critiqued in many reviews for it's interior. Part of the justification seems to be that the blazer interior is nice, but not "$50k nice" while the passport is judged to a lesser standard because it costs "only" $45k loaded.
