Spotted by KGP Photography, a camouflaged crossover was testing alongside a Nissan Murano and it’s expected to sit between the Equinox and Traverse. Rumored to be the Blazer, Chevy made room for this upcoming crossover by shrinking the Equinox and increasing the second-generation Traverse’s size.

Reportedly underpinned by the same architecture as the GMC Acadia, the Blazer could rival the likes of the Ford Edge and Nissan Murano. Not much is known beyond that, but Automotive News believes it could be offered with three row seating, but it’ll most likely be a tight fit for adults and a third row could reduce the crossover’s cargo space.

Though we can’t tell the difference, the two prototypes caught on camera are said to be of different trim levels. The mule with smaller wheels and dual circular exhaust system could be the lower or entry-level trim while the prototype with larger chrome wheels hints at a more upmarket trim.

Powering the new Blazer could be a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine capable of delivering 193 hp and 188 lb-ft of torque. The other possibility is a 3.6-liter V-6 engine producing 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. Both of which are found in the GMC Acadia and they could be paired with a six-speed automatic transmission in the Blazer.

We’re expecting it to go on sale next year as a 2019 model
