I'm sorry, I still don't understand why I can't remove those bulb holders. I've replaced a lot of bulbs and I've never had a problem like that before. Do your bulb holders look like the one on the right in the picture below? Did you simply rotate them counterclockwise and then pull? Did you use any tool? I can only rotate them a couple degrees, and that's it.

Just turn counterclock and pull, sometimes it got really stuck there (I'm waiting for mine to arrive but I was testing the waters and drivers side is really stuck, passenger side was easier to turn)

For you that want to also change the stop/turn bulb. I did mine last weekend (10 minutes job).

1. Remove plastic cover (between taillight and the rubber of the tail gate)
2. Unscrew the two bolts (9mm socket if I have it right, but don't take my word for it since I already forgot)
3. If you are lucky enough, you just need to give it a little pull from the inside (got the drivers side this way). If you are not (like my passenger side), use some fabric to insert it on the tip of the taillight (on the side), and use that to pull (alongside the inner hole). Way to scary to pull and hear the 'un-click', you might think you broke something. But at the end was everything Ok
4. Counterclock and pull the 7440 socket and replace it with 7440/7443 (I got the T 7443R from lastfit)
5. Align the pins and push the taillight back in

Everything is running Ok, no hyperflash, no canbus error.

I understand why some people think you need to disassembly the entire bumper, one of the pins is sort of low, but you don't have to worry about (I think if you are hulk strong you might damage something on the pulling, but regular dudes will have no problem)

I was afraid to apply too much force and break them, but I finally had to use my pliers, and then I was able to rotate those stubborn things. The rest took a few minutes.

I bought on Amazon Sirius Led 921 EG and it a huge improvement over the factory one. Easy installation from the inside hatch panel. Just take out the small little panel to have direct acess to the incandescent bulb. No problem at all since the installation 3 months ago.
I have upgraded my last three cars & trucks to LED backup lights. The backup camera needs a little extra lighting in really dark conditions and LED replacement bulbs are the solution.
