So dealer did the free oil change today. I told them that oil was down 1 full qt. I don't like this, did anyone else have LOW oil at their 1st change? Mileage was 5,444 (picked up Blazer on Dec 30th).

Thanks, Glenn

I drove only 2000 miles and it has lost 40 percent of the range between low and high mark as seen in the picture. It was at high mark when the odometer was at 200 miles. I am wondering how many quart is required to fill up to high mark. I have the same 2LT AWD 2.0l turbo engine.

Do you get a FREE 1st Oil Change? I would like you tell them about oil usage. If you goto dealer, have them check it for LEAKs or is it BURNING the oil.

Keep updating this forum, thanks. Glenn

I went to service today and the manager said this amount of consumption is expected and sent me home with a car wash even without opening the hood. For some reason the oil consumption stopped after 2000 miles which is why I did not insist. I am at the same level after 2600 miles as it was on 2000 miles in the odometer. He told me to not top it off and keep an eye on it. My guess is that the wear and tear are high in the first 2k miles which results in more consumption during that time???

Did my 2nd oil change myself. It was down 1 qt again. Miles was 10,195 which was 4,757 miles. Note: I did a 1,600 mile trip before oil change, before trip it was 1/3 down on dip stick, when we got back it was at bottom of dip stick. Drove to Vegas from our home in CO. Speed limit in 65-75 in CO, 65-80 (lots of 80) on I70 in UT and 75 in NV (I drive 3 over most of time). Its run at 2,500 RPM in 8th most of time at and 2,000 when it drops into 9th (maybe 10-20 miles the whole trip).

Will ask service guys as I have a recall to check on. Our 2012 Sonic Turbo 1.4 and 2016 Hyundai Tuson Turbo 1.6 NEVER used any oil.

I'm using Mobil 0w20 Dex2 and NAPA Gold filters

Yes, I concur. It does consume 1 quart every 5 to 6k. My BMW B58 engine does not use any oil at all. According to the dealer it's all excepted.

Saw this thread and decided to check mine.

2022, took ownership in Feb with only 3 miles on it. Oil life is now down to 25%, with a hair over 5000 miles, and the stick shows the oil level is down to 25% as well. (No bueno)

Going to get this into the dealer ASAP for its first oil change, and task them to explain the oil loss, as there are no observable leaks.

So, a bit of followup...
The earliest appointment I could get was two weeks out, so I decided to throw 2 quarts in, just to prevent any issues. That brought the dipstick up to the full line. So, what the heck?

Dealership said some oil consumption is normal for the turbo, but had no idea why I had such a low reading.
I'm going to monitor it over the next year to see what happens. (maybe they just didn't top it off properly in the dealership initial setup? I know they ship with less than a full load of oil.)
