According to Cars Direct, the 2020 Chevrolet Blazer 2.0T 2LT will come with a starting price of $33,995 after destination. Moving up to the 3LT will cost $38,195.

What makes this interesting is that the 2.0T will only be $500 less than the V6 version. The V6 on the 2LT or 3LT costs $34,395 and $38,695.

In their article, Cars Direct questions whether this was a good move, and I agree. I think Chevy should've priced the turbo more than $500 below the V6.

With the turbo, the 2020 Blazer 2LT has an MSRP of $33,995 with destination. With the V6, the same vehicle costs $34,495. The better-equipped 3LT starts at $38,195 with the turbo and $38,695 with the V6. As a result, buyers may find the additional 78 hp and 12 lb-ft of torque to be well worth the extra $500.

So why even offer a turbo in the first place?

"To provide Blazer customers more choice," a Chevy spokesperson explained to us via email, adding that the brand considers it "a great alternative" to the 2.5-liter mill in terms of performance and efficiency. But is it the best choice? That may depend on your priorities.

In terms of fuel economy, the V6 is rated at 21 mpg, just 2 mpg less than the 2.5-liter base engine. Ratings for the turbo aren't available yet, and using the 25 mpg rating of the 2-liter Equinox turbo may not be all that helpful given the difference in output (252 hp vs. 230).

As far as towing, Chevy's order guide indicates that the V6 remains the only way to achieve the model's maximum capacity of 4,500 lbs with an all-wheel-drive configuration. With front-wheel-drive, the turbo, V6, and base 2.5-liter mill are all limited to just 1,500 lbs.

Other considerations may affect buyers in everyday driving. For example, the turbo requires premium gas whereas the V6 does not. It's also possible that the turbo could offer different driving dynamics, although we won't know for sure until we can get behind the wheel of one ourselves.

FYI- the EPA mileage for the 2L turbo was finally released in last few weeks. Im not even sure any have actually been delivered to dealers but the mileage is 21/27 AWD and 21/28 FWD. If you drive mostly on the highway the smaller engine doesn't seem to make much sense at all. City mpg gain is respectable though.

I wonder why people would buy any SUV with a neck snapping 2.0 4 banger engine - turbo or not. Gas mileage?
Doesn't Jeep sell a Jeep with a non-turbo 1.2 L engine? I'm thinking WTF.
BTW oh, I'm not a Ford guy, but I drove a Ford 150 about 300 miles and it is an excellent vehicle. Very smooth. Kind of a luxury interior. Really like 10 speed train. I also drove a 2020 Chevy Colorado 6 cyl - excellent all around except it needs 2 more gears. I would get one otherwise. So, the blazer with a 6 cyl would probably be the next in line.

Have you driven something with the 2.0T in it? I had the 2.0T in my Malibu before the Blazer and it was a great motor and a nice power plant that was very quick when you needed/wanted the power but could also average 36mpg at 80mph on trips. Honestly, that engine had more “feel” than the 6 cylinder my Blazer does, and was a little more exciting to drive than the 6.

it is going to be a lot higher for the coming years as the chipset shortage is there in china and taiwan. even the accessories like GPS tracker is also going to be expensive due to the chipset shortage
