2019 Chevy Blazer Alternator Replacement

My daughter has a 2019 Blazer and she needs a replacement Alternator. The mechanic said it will cost $2000.00. I have some mechanic skills from many years ago. Could someone please tell me how buried this alternator is and how difficult it will be to change the alternator. Any trick on how to get to it and possibly what not to do. Pictures would be great. Thank you guys in advance. Have a great Thanksgiving, be safe!

First, find another mechanic. No way it cost that much for that job. The alternator isn't that much. It's a pretty straightforward job. Not that complicated. Just Google the job and you'll find a wealth of info out there and videos on how to do it. Let Google be your friend. YouTube is a great place to start.

$2000...no way...V6 or I4?
I completely agree with you! I can get an alternator for around $250.00. They are either trying to rip her off or they think they need to pull the engine to get to the alternator. I haven’t don’t an alternator in a very long time and never on these newer cars, that’s why I’m asking for advice on how to pull it out!

I googled all day long and there is virtually nothing on a 2019 chevy alternator replacement. Lots on a Silverado.

if there is a Helms service manual available buy it
I just got off the phone with a reputable shop in my neck of the woods, I live in Wimberley, TX., and the price will obviously vary between engine size and alternator size. You haven't stated what your engine type is, V6 or V4, so the two prices I'm giving you will be based on engine type, alternator size, battery size (voltage), and location. The range was from $600.00 to $1500.00, with the lesser cost being a V4. So, depending on where you live and the cost of doing business, you may very well spend upwards of 2k to have that done. However, if you can get the manual ajax mentioned, you could do this for a lot less. It really isn't all that difficult rather tedious with the belts involved.

Were you getting quotes from a Dealer or an independent?
My daughter got the quote. I didn’t even know she was having a problem. I think it’s a v4. I don’t think getting it disconnected is going to be very difficult. The biggest problem is getting it out once it’s disconnected. It’s going to be tight for sure. Breather box looks like it is going to need to be removed. I’ll find out Friday I guess. Unfortunately her husband can’t change a light bulb.
Well, you're right about the tight fit. Much of the labor that goes into these simple jobs is removing all of the surrounding objects, testing and diagnostics, then reassembly. Nothing cheap anymore to have someone else do it. Pretty soon we'll need an ASE Certified Technician just to pop the hood on our fancy vehicles. Warm up that credit card.

Either way, good luck and don't smash your phalanges.
I really do appreciate all the advice guys! Have a great Thanksgiving and be safe

I have a 2019 RS, $913 for thermostat replacement. It's a 4 hour job. It's located in the front of the motor.
I do have extended warranty for another 9k miles. So out of pocket $100. I thinking of buying another warranty?
