Now that Blazer deliveries are going through and dealers are stocking them it presents a great opportunity for us to get a baseline of what the 2019 Blazer performance is really like throughout all trims (L, 2.5L, 3.6L W/WO AWD and RS). Chevrolet hasn't produced these numbers yet so before we jump into aftermarket performance mods lets get these numbers down. 0-60, 0-100, 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile times are all welcome. Include as much or as little information as you wish.

On a more personal note, Blazer RS 0-60 times would be helpful as i'm in the market for one and hoping it either keeps up or beats the Edge ST at 5.9-seconds.

Update 04/18/19

Some developments on those performance metrics have come out since my original post, this time just on 0-60 and 1/4-mile times. The main ones in recent weeks and days has been first drive reviews from MotorWeek of a Blazer Premier (they praised it in this pre-drive too) and Motortrend with a Blazer RS, results were:

Motortrend - Blazer RS
  • 0-60: 6.1-seconds
  • 1/4-mile: 14.7-seconds

Motorweek - Blazer Premier
  • 0-60: 6.2-seconds
  • 1/4-mile: 14.8-seconds
Our Blazer AWD RS tester accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 14.7 seconds at 95.5 mph. Its crosstown rival, the Ford Edge ST, sports significantly more horsepower and torque than the Blazer RS (335 hp and 380 lb-ft), but it only barely keeps up, tying the Blazer's 0-60 and quarter-mile times but actually lagging behind 2.1 mph in trap speed. The 300-pound-heavier Ford does edge (sorry) the Chevy out in braking and handling tests due to its performance-tuned suspension and stickier tires, though; the Blazer's best 60-0 stop came in at 126 feet, and its best figure eight lap was a respectable 27.1 seconds at 0.65 g average. The Edge ST did the former in 108 feet and the latter in 26.0 seconds at 0.70 g. We'll have to line the two Detroit pony crossovers up for some back-to-back tests to really figure out who has the upper hand.
As for rivals, the Edge ST originally mentioned here barely kept up when tested by MT. Still, there's more to consider like the
  • Edge Sport: 0-60 in 6.1 seconds
  • Durango RT: 0-60 in 6.2 seconds
  • Explorer Sport: 0-60 in 5.8-seconds and start at $5,000 more
  • Acura RDX SH-AWD: 0-60 in 6.4-seconds and also starts at $5,000 more
  • and for some of us, even among all these performance stamped trims, the Blazer RS vs Premier (RS isn't "presentable" enough for me and Premier delivers close enough numbers)

Its tunes and performance chips that will make the difference for me. We might even see more aftermarket companies take interest in Chevrolet. Its the first time some Chevy SUV smaller than the Tahoe is tune worthy. Some might even go as far to say more performance metrics aside from that mentioned here are needed. I agree. Chevrolet says its Camaro-esque as an RS, i'm not 100% convinced of that yet, even with the quicker steering and suspension adjustments.

Some publication like Motortrend needs to have a track day with its rivals to see which is the better all around performer with other considerations like price, practicality, value, etc.
motorweek's review of a Blazer Premier I posted below features some of that (slalom, comments on traction control, their 0-60 results of 6.2 seconds, and more). Its the most involved video review yet.

0-60 of a regular Blazer V6 AWD using a GPS timer:

and if you love how the V6 sounds, I suggest skipping to the 10:10 mark below for an exhaust clip (love the very slight V8 notes on idle) and at 4:35 in motorweeks review above if you missed it.

The Blazer will have 5 different driving modes to choose from. They will change throttle response, steering, shift patterns and traction control. 2WD, 4WD, Sport, Off-Road and Towing.
