2019 Blazer LOCKED UP while driving. Anti-THEFT?!?

Can someone explain why this SUV (in the middle of me driving it for about 20 minutes), started to malfunction. I was going about 45 mph and in a moment, the windshield wiper quickly budged, the glovebox popped open, then a notification on the dash said that the car was going into anti theft mode?? The STEERING WHEEL locked in the middle of me driving and I was luckily on a one lane road and drift it off the side. The brake pedal locked and I couldn’t call OnStar or do anything. Luckily I had service, and wasn’t on a super busy road so there wasn’t an accident. How is this even remotely acceptable?
