2018 Chevrolet Blazer Spied Under Wraps

Chevrolet’s upcoming midsize crossover was spied testing with some production bodywork exposed.

Slotting between the Equinox and Traverse with a body size similar to that of the 2017 GMC Acadia, their new crossover may carry the Blazer nameplate.

Previously, the mule was spotted covered in heavy camouflage and we couldn’t see much of the bodywork. It was mistaken for a redesigned Traverse and with due reason as it is due for a redesign for the 2018 model year. Now a lighter covering has revealed a side profile that resembles the Acadia and is shorter than the outgoing Traverse.

The grille design can be seen through the camouflage and even though its badge is covered, Automotive News can still tell that the car underneath is a Chevy as it’s similar to what you’ll find on the new Equinox. Other features that may have taken inspiration from the Equinox are the headlights, LED daytime running lights, and horizontal taillights.

Underpinning the new Blazer should be GM’s “Chi” platform which it will share with the Traverse. Not much is known about the model’s powertrain so we’ll have to wait for the official word from Chevy. The wait shouldn’t be too long since the Blazer is expected to launch for the 2018 year.

Anyone thinks that Chevy might use the Blazer as a model to implement a hybrid trim or what? With the whole pairing of a sporty vehicle with hybrid powertrains and drivetrains, is that something we can see happening here?
That might also play into the whole police/paramedic/fire fleet thing I was talking about in another thread since car makers have been looking into hybridizing those types of fleet, currently the market is due for that sort of things with all thats going on right now. Those systems have proved reliable and suitable
