Sometimes including enough form and function to create the perception of what it can do is enough, very few care about the details. Good enough is good enough.

Sadly that's the exact mindset that all automakers have come to when it comes to launching new crossovers. They are all just slightly tweaked versions of one another, with parts borrowed from other models in their lineups.

A and B testing is the classic way to find out what people want with real examples. Challenging times for car makers, entirely new generations have come along causing this shift (not that its a bad thing) but eventually we'll see the elimination of certain models.

Trimming lineups was long overdue, as there is no need for multiple sedan and crossover options imo. I know Ford is doubling down on that segment but I think there are going to have a tough time trying to distinguish each model from one another. They are all going to borrow platforms and powertrains from each other.
