I'm on high alert for transmission woes that impacted the Traverse that shares the 9-speed transmission our Blazer's have. Just read this feedback from those owners:
  • I purchased a 2018 Traverse/Redline on 6 Feb 2018, drove it less than 100 miles, and the transmission stopped working two (2) days later,
  • 646 miles on the odometer and transmission failed. My 15-year-old Tahoe made it 256000 without a transmission failure. Its hard to accept waiting on the side of the road with a car that doesnt even have plates on it yet,

We currently have a 2018 Traverse with 9 speed transmission... No issues, very smooth. I also have a 2017 Malibu Premier (till my blazer comes in)...I had issues with the trans 4,500 miles into it. Dealer had to replace valve body and seloniod (sp?) pack. Same 9 speed transmission, it was the first year for it...It was fixed and continues to be a very smooth shifting transmission...

Auto Stop Feature

Just upgraded to a Blazer RS from a 2016 Chevy Cruze last month. My cruze also had a the auto stop feature, and turned the engine off when the vehicle came to a complete stop, and stayed off until I released my foot from the break peddle.

I've noticed on my Blazer that when I come to a complete stop and the auto-stop feature is initiated, regardless of wether or not I take my foot off the break peddle, the engine randomly starts after a minute or two.

Has anyone else had this issue? Wondering if its my Blazer or a new feature from Chevy that the auto-stop feature only turns your car off for a few minutes and then turns it back on.

thanks!

The scary thing is when you do a google search for "chevrolet start stop" the next suggestion is...

"Chevrolet start stop disable"

If Google is picking up on a mass amount of people that don't want it, that sure says a lot.

@tpierce09 speaking of issues, the Cruze was plagued with them from what I heard. It might explain why I don't spot them on the road anymore. Transmission issues being part of it.

Beware - of Launch vehicle problems. I picked up my New Chevy Blazer on May 8 in Newmarket Ontario and today May 12 it is in to be repaired. The engine overheated and parts are being ordered and may take a while if Lordstown does not have them in stock, they may have to come from Mexico. Dealer says to me well atl east you get free kms from rental car? Really? Other comment was well it is a launch vehicle, things can happen. $47,000 later and I have rental car? Wtf Chevy? Never again. A new car should not be in for service within the first 5 days. Not impressed with dealer or Chevy. If you want the facts and I mean all of them hit me up on my facebook page. But I doubt I will hear from you. I waited since January 29th for the Blazer I ordered only to find out it would not arrive until mid June. So dealer pulled a similar one from another dealers stock, then overcharged me (still waiting for refund cheque even though they took part of my down payment on credit card, I have to wait for cheque), then didn't provide ownership. This is totally unacceptable service, but no one cares. I have been GM loyal for 27 years. But not anymore. You have lost a loyal customer.

Yeah its definitely nice to get away from that vehicle! I think over the 3 year span of me leasing the car, it spent a good 4-6 weeks in the shop to get fixed from recalls and other issues.

Its unfortunate we're learning the hard way to trust new products like this from Chevrolet. I still find it hard to believe it gets a 4.5/5 on most reviews.

Owner experiences like these few make you wonder...

HATED IT

I test drove this unit in search of a mid size SUV. GM missed the mark on this one. Instead of brining back an iconic Blazer they created just another FWD CUV. Inside you cannot tell that you are not in a Camaro... the inside is the same as one. I cannot believe GM invested in this when they are deep in financial trouble. This car is a flop. It has been out 3 months and I have seen 1 on the road. Also, this car is way to heavy for a 2.5 4 cylinder. It struggles to get up and go. If you do chose this car, and I'm sorry that you do, go with the gas guzzling 3.6L V6. After driving all these cars I have decided to wait until the RWD 2020 Explorer when it comes out later in the year. Now that is a masculine looking SUV.

Stupid

Looks like any other SUV. Totally disgracful to the legendary Chevy blazer. Looks like a Chevy equinox. A Chevy blazer was a mid size truck with the option of taking the roof and going off road and having a good time. Was fords Broncos top competitor...not anymore.

Test drove for 24 hours and was very unimpressed

Lack of power, sluggish off the grip. Design was what really hurt it. I loved the old Blazers but the new design is so ordinary and I exciting. Was really hoping for more out of Chevy. Oh well, Ill wait and see what new ford bronco has in store when it hits the road.

If the vehicle deems that the engine needs to be running in certain situations, it will start again. For instance, if you have HVAC running or change driving modes by putting the gear selector into L. There are times when battery drain would be too significant, so the car starts back up. Normal operation.
